Before we can really have our hands on the new iPhone 4G, actually the release of Safari 5 is a bigger news that people may miss out. It’s showing how Apple pay afford and get ready to the new era of web development and open standard – HTML5.
Safari 5 requires 1Password 3.2, other plugins like ClickToFlash and Speed Download have no problem with Safari 5

I’m not sure the requirement of new Reader feature. It works for some technical reading sites that I usually surf.

Reader view, you can change font size, mail or print the article in better printing format.

Extension is a “secret” hidden feature! It answers to complaints that Safari couldn’t have plugin like Firefox. Wish many useful extensions will appear soon!

New Theme

Get bored by the old theme in this blog. Just spend a little time to change a new theme and tweak the widgets. There’re not many good looking themes from WordPress service you can select, but it’s free, so who can complaint? I wish to have the content column wider, otherwise it would kill my photo or video resolution. May be I should find one with single column. I still like it far more than blogging service provided by Yahoo or MSN. It’s more open in WordPress, at least I can host it somewhere else with the same theme or even the data exported.
Well, time to setup something NEW.

If you’re used to consolidate all your feeds by using Google Reader, MobileRSS most likely the best iPhone application work together. First, I have to explain how good to use Google Reader as your RSS reader. It’s portable, as long as you got internet connection and browser, you can read your feeds on the road, overseas wherever. Most important, it keeps a single copy of your feed, you wouldn’t be messed up what’s read or unread. On my mac, I love the free Google Reader client – NetNewsWire. They had their own online feed subscription before but now the free client also using Google Reader as the repository. However, NetNewsWire for iPhone is not that great as the one for Mac. It always crashes especially with Chinese headline, no caching and no trimmed version of the detail. Recently, I addict to MobileRSS, not just because it’s a stable Google Reader client in iPhone. I found the extensible of features just meet my need. The UI looks like any standard iPhone app, but it’s not true! I wonder how they tweak the interface to it so interesting, you can bounce the news list to refresh the page, swipe the news appear different functions, previous and next button or finger stroke feel so good and also can detail the trimmed detail in full screen!

Youtube & Vimeo just announced beta support of HTML5 tag <video>. What a good news! Quoting the word from Vimeo, it’s more responsive than Flash and doesn’t need to take so long to buffer. I hate Flash so much that it often crashes my browser and eats up my resource, also Flash doesn’t support Mac so well. Though currently only Safari 4 and Google Chrome fully support HTML5 (I wonder why Firefox is not…), I’m natively enjoying the benefit as I use Safari for 90% of my surfing. For guys using PC, I think you should dump your IE and give it a try to Safari or Chrome not just because of HTML5 but also for your security goodness!
I love clear and simple code! ![]()

We love and hate Flash. It could be funny for giving us games and a lot of multimedia effect in web pages. But sometimes web pages are using it too much! And it consumes too much computation power. I found ClickToFlash is a great tool for Safari (I guess Firefox would have similar plug-in). Now I can load and Flash brick I want selectively. It has whitelist that you can add your favourite sites without such checking again. Also you can select H.264 before loading video from like YouTube.
